Some people like to sit at home and watch Netflix or stroll around a museum, but others find that sort of date boring. If you and your partner are the type of people who like to stay active, then you probably are itching to find something cool and engaging to do on the weekend. Here's a list of three possibilities to consider.

Kayaking

If the two of you live near a river, then you should consider a kayaking trip. You can find kayaking tour companies that will outfit you with a kayak, life jackets, and, depending on the time of year, a wet suit. Wet suits are only necessary if the water is really cold. If you guys have never been on whitewater before, then you should make sure the river has a low rating on the International Scale of River Difficulty. You should not head into class 4 or 5 water on your first trip. If the two of you are complete novices, you can hook up with a tour group where you will be part of a group of first-time kayakers who travel down the river together along with a guide. This way you won't have to be on your own the first time you hit the water.

Rock Climbing

If you prefer to stay on land, then think about rock climbing. You can do this indoors or outdoors. Most cities will have indoor rock-climbing gyms. These places have large artificial walls with grips spaced over the surface. You hook into a safety line that is attached to the ceiling and then scale the vertical wall using the grips. These indoor spaces are fantastic for times when the weather is nasty out and you don't feel like climbing outside.

But when the weather is nice, you should check out local outdoor rock-climbing spots. Often times these will be in state parks. While there might be very high and technically difficult routes to climb, you can also find smaller climbs that are designed for novices. You should look into a local guide that arranges climbing tours of the mountain. This way you won't have to go out and buy ropes, harnesses, carabiners, and everything else necessary to do outdoor climbing.

Skydiving

For something that is really exciting, you should check out skydiving classes. If you've always wanted to jump out of a plane but have been too nervous, then these classes are great. You will learn all of the basics behind how the parachutes work, what the jump experience will be like, and the comprehensive safety procedures involved. Then, after you have learned all of this, you will be able to go up into the plane more confidently and enjoy jumping out and getting the view of your life.
